I Think The V6 Really Has To Go This Time

Recommended Posts

As I mentioned in the off topics section, I'm buying my first house, I've done all the calculations I can and even though it's a cheap house, about as cheap as I'm going to get without needing major work, and I'm not going to have much, if any spare cash. I have worked things out a bit on the expensive side to make sure I'll be ok, but I won't know what all of my bills are for sure until I move in.

Now the 306 v6 estate isn't the cheapest of cars to run, so I'm looking for something boring and cheap, but can't get another car until the 306 is gone, I'll need to buy a set of door cards for it after I pulled one apart to retrim it but that hit a bit of a dead end, and I can't exactly sell it with 3 1/2 door cards! And it's in need of wishbone bushes, so I'll be replacing the wishbones before I advertise it.

It won't need anything (to my knowledge) when it goes up for sale, it's taxed and tested (off the top of my head, mot till november, tax till january), I've had it advertised before, with a bit of interest, but no takers, what do you reakon would be a reasonable price to advertise it for?

I'm willing to take quite a bit less than I think it's worth, because the only other options are leave it sitting until I have more spare cash again, which could result in it being a rusty pile of bits worth nothing, the downside to that is I don't really have the space, I could park it in my new garden, but that's not really ideal, or break it, which takes more space and time and usually results in having a pile of bits left that nobody wants until you throw them away, then everybody is after them!

I noticed on your old thread there was hardly any mention of by who and how the project was done,

i.e which r/h engine mount, modified subframe or not, which exhaust+cat/downpipe, who did the driveshafts, Coupe or saloon gearbox, cable or hydraulic clutch, o.e ecu?

I'd be quite interested if you weren't so far away and I had some spare cash

I did the whole thing myself, I made the top engine mount myself from 3mm steel, so not as pretty as the ally ones but well strong enough! Subframe has been lowered and modified to clear the diff housing and inner cv joints, driveshafts were shortened by myself (cut in late, sleve turned and press fitted inside, then welded) have done a good few thousand miles and had a bit of abuse and proved themselves well! 2.5" stainless exhaust with removeable cat + decat pipe included if wanted, engine and 'box were from a coupe (bought from the breaker in chesterfield), clutch converted to cable, uses the regular 306 cable with slight modification that a 5 year old could do (cut the rubber rings off and swap for a nylon bush that's obviously included!), running the standard management.

Brembos are off now as well, so no squeals, and the gti6 setup stops the car just fine!

The problem is I don't want to sell it, I love it, but I think it's going to have to go :(

That's what I want to know! I do have a minimum in my head, but if I tell everyone what it is then I'm never going to get offered any more!

Go on, make an offer (via PM, this isn't a for sale thread!)

I'd be interested in a part ex with anything cheap to run, as long as it's mechanically sound, I don't want to get rid of the v6 only to end up spending a fortune on repairs!

I'll be spending the next few weeks buying and fitting the above mentioned parts, marking the end of my spending, I find out tomorrow if the bank is happy with the value of the house I've got an offer on, if they are then I'm only about a month away from being pennyless!

Once everything is sorted I'll put up a for sale thread, in the meantime, if anyone wants it in it's current state (needs at least one wishbone, balljoints are fine, and at least one door card), feel free to PM me.

she has only covered 98k but she is abit on the scrappy side, i use her to run me/kids to and from and she was great with helping me move house. the best way to discribe her is as a work horse as the bodywork is a mess and it didnt help teaching the other half to drive in her.

if your after a cheap runaround then she is just the car but if your after a mint show car.....

the mot/tax are out in september

i just need a estate as the family is getting bigger and im not having another dirty slow diesel
