Whats So Good About Mi16 Mounts?

Recommended Posts

dave205

I've read up a few things on here with regards to fitting mi16 mounts to 2.0 8v turbo engine, to enable fitment into a 205, ive purchased one and its completely different from the standard one and isnt really any use.

Can anyone suggest a top engine mount that will fit?? I am tempted to use the standard one, problem is its so heavy!!!

Yeah standard turbo one weighs a ton, standard 205 one makes engine sit too far back IIRC. The one you've got sounds like a 1.9 Mi16 one, it's the 2.0 Mi16 one that you need.

I think there's a bit of confusion, but as I understand it...

Citreon XM sourced 2.0 8v Turbo engines use an alloy front engine mount that you then use a 1.9 Mi16 mount arm to make it fit a 205/309.

Most other 2.0 8v Turbo engines use an iron front engine mount, and on these, you need a 306 XU10 type mount arm to make it fit a 205/309.

Edit - you can just about see the XM alloy mount and 1.9 Mi16 mount arm combo in Tom_M's for sale thread here

Thank you for your reply/s, its cleared this issue up for me and i can now see where ive got confused!!! I have the standard mount and top arm, i also have an alloy mount like the one in the picture you added, i also have a 306 gti top arm. I think im going to go with the standard mount, but put it on an angle grinder diet first, get rid of the alternator and power steering mounts and just fabricate a bracket for the alternator, then mill it all up tidy after and use the 306 top arm. Unless anyone has the correct MI16 mount for sale???
