Spray Shops In Manchester?

Recommended Posts

kenny201

Hi Guys..

I am doin a project for the missus (Its a mini not a pug)

Anyways the is a fair amount of welding to be done, new panels and stuff so am looking for a good body shop.

I spent a day goin round different outfits last week and none of them filled me with confidence. I know its a lot of work and we want it done right so it lasts.

Had qoutes from £600 to £3000. we have a budget for body work an spay of about £2500 so we are expecting a good job not just a quick blow over.

Can anyone reccomend me a tried and tested, trustwothy body shop in manchester or stockport please??

Cheers, Paul :)

I can't offer a recommended bodyshop but I can recommend you avoid Panelcare in Rochdale. They tend to be quite active in forums but my recent experience was not posiitive.

From the talk of replacement panels I am assuming we are talking about a classic Mini and not a BINI.

If that is the case I would avoid using just "any" normal bodyshop- you really need somewhere that knows the awkward issues of Minis in order to get a good job that will last. It is not just a matter of fitting new panels as you would with a more modern car.

Spray wise I can recommend a place near Huddersfield, not cheap but very good, Jessop Motorbodies.

Thanks guys, I understand whats not to be done (yes its a classic) with all the doors and panels meeting properly hence I dont want to go for the cheapest option,

I am really looking for a experianced bodyshop who can offer me good advice on the best way to go about things,

So, we have one place recommended to stay away from, is there anyone else who can give a possitve recomend in my area??? :)

Paul

Not being funny but did you actually read my last reply?? I will repeat myself incase you didn't get what I was trying to say.

YOU ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A GOOD EXPERIENCED BODYSHOP.

YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BODYSHOP EXPERIENCED WITH RUSTY MINIS.

I have owned probably a dozen Minis and done major welding on most of them so I do know what I am talking about, up to you what you do.
