Rear Brakes 60% Difference

Recommended Posts

sven_ilegems

Hello,

I seem to have a bit of a problem here...

My 1.9 GTI failed the MOT last week because of the right rear brake that wasn't doing much apparently...

The strange thing is: the handbrake is fine for both rear wheels (so I would think the calipers are fine)

AND I have purged the hydraulic right wheel line without any problem... no obstuction... oil streams out fine (with easy bleed kit)...

SO far I have cleaned the disks, replaced the pads...bleeded the hoses... but another MOT today showed no improvement...

Is this a problem with the right compensator? or is it the caliper ??

Help needed please... dear 205GTI brothers... :) I am a bit lost now

No it's a common problem with 1.9's complicated (comparitively speaking) braking system, importantly the rear brake compensators that are in-line in the brake lines to the rears around the fuel tank area, may well be not working as they should, ie. providing the correct rear brake pressure.
