Finally Got Stopped Today

well tody i finally got pulled over by the local volvo t5 jammer. must have been bored or didnt like the look of my motor , had my 205 gti for about 7 months now, this is the first time i got stopped in it. luckily last week i just changed both front tyres and done all the bulbs. they went over the whole car , finally he asked me to pop the bonnet saw him look at his buddy and say (THAT AINT STANDARD IS IT ) too right it aint he said, thats from a 405 mi16 then he came and asked me about the engine, i quickly corrected him saying it was from a bx16v. my car is total legal from tax to mot, eventually they said to me they just wanted a look at it as they are into cars, would have been fine but i was on my somewhere important . anyway they said nice 205 mate then drove off. thanks mr police man

Well they have every right to stop you. They were most likely initially looking for something or someone and you fitted the profile. You think they really were just stopping you because they liked your car?

So you walked away with nothing but a few lost minutes...the harsh words 'get over it' spring to mind.

On two occasions when i was was out in my mates Opel Manta we were pulled over just cos the car 'Looked interesting'

 

We weren't really bothered, But its not right that they pull you over for no actual reason

What does your car look like? Is it a mint show winner or is it like most 205s a bit tatty 20 year old car.

 

If the latter I would expect to get pulled a lot (a lot more than I get stopped) and would be asking questions if this was not happening.

 

At the end of the day its your tax that pays for the police and if they are not stopping cars that are prime candidates to have something wrong with them they are not doing a good job imho.

Excellent. I had that happen in my 309 Gti last year. Was a little annoyed at first, but then again if it had of been stolen i would have been glad of them tugging it.

To be honest I would be flattered if two officers pulled me just to have a look, I would find it a amusing and hugely ego massaging

 

I'v only been pulled over once for cutting a painted on round about at 11pm

i have been pulled over a fair amount never for anything really but the worste was when i had just bought a transit and the paperwork hadnt changed over yet,they went over it and everything in it with a fine tooth comb as they thought i was out thieving,3 volvos 6 police i just sat and watched as thought no point in arguing as i had nothing to hide.

Normally I just get the tyres and lights checked, insurance check and then something along the lines of "Slow down you wanker"

 

Not always phrased more politely either

 

The joys of having family on patrol, his mates pull me over every time they're bored I think, swine.

Only ever been pulled twice, both when I was driving my 205, never when driving my 405, the ZX or the 309!

Never been pulled in my 205, but I used to get stopped regularly in my Integra Type R. Think it was the spoiler (standard) and exhaust (not standard) that made the Teg a target. The Police would hear me coming and pull me as soon as I went past. They weren't admiring the car (lets face it the Teg is no looker), they just want 'boy racers' off the road and they know that six points for two worn tyres has them more than half way there. And lets face it, to your average Police man, anyone driving any kind of hot hatch, whether they tootle it or thrash it, is a boy racer in their eyes.

used to get stopped in my old 106 gti alot because it was "different" as said by the policeman, he knew the exhaust and mods to suspension werent declared, he was just very happy i was wearing my seatbelt and the tyres all round were perfect! (brand new infact!)

I was pulled in my last 205 for having 'no tax'. The officer walked to the front of the car, realised the vehicle was taxed and the disc was fine and said "Sorry, my mistake". I'm fairly certain he just wanted to pull me over to make sure nothing was dodgy though as he pulled out of an alleyway after noticing me drive past.
