Citroen Ds3 Dsporttest Drive

Well i've just borrowed a Citroen DS3 DSport from my local dealer. I was quite impressed with the all round driveablility of the little hot hatch. with its typical point and squirt handling.

I was coming to the conclusion that it was a modern equivalent of a 205 GTi (puts tin hat on and runs for cover :D ).

It certainling went well and on my private race track it pulls 95mph in 3rd. Drove it quite hard for an hour and the range left on the tank barely moved.

The modern quirky styling makes it something abit different which is what attracted me to it in the 1st place.

Anyone else driven or got one???

Cheers

Mark

I've read a few road tests of the DS3 (& DS3-R) & whilst most of the time its gets good reviews some don't place it top against its rivals. Iirc one said it felt soft compared to rivals.

I read one where they had Loeb testing the new DS3 wrc car alongside the DS3-R & it sounded quite a handy modern 205 equivilent.

I've not driven one but it's a car that could interest me in a couple of years.

I doubt it'll steal the crown from Renaultsport though atm.

Graham.

have a go in the DS3R if you can find one, more power different suspension better brakes and wider track.

When we bought the Mazda last year I had a look at the DS3 but the price is crazy. When you think how cheap a new RS Clio is.

It seems like the DS3 has a premium price on account of it being a 'lifestyle' type hatchback, rather than a practical one. Shame really as if it was a keenly priced as the Clio, it would sell very well indeed. Having had a nose around one, but not a drive, they seem to be a cut above the Clio in the quality of materials used and the overall finish and feel, so I suppose you are paying for that. Would I have one ahead of an Abarth, yes. Ahead of a Mini Cooper S, again probably yes. Ahead of the kind of cars you can pick up for £17k second hand, that have taken their biggest hit on the depreciation curve already, no.

For a hot hatch to tempt me into buying it brand new, it would have to tick all the boxes, and right now, nothing is quite doing it for me. :)
