Strange Engine Movement Under Acceleration...

Recommended Posts

grantley1988

Whilst accelerating i have a wierd squeeking noise and some movement which i think is from the engine bay. I can drive along at say 30mph and if i keep tapping thr throttle it seems like the engine is moving!

I have had a good look around the bay today trying to move the engine around and its stiff as you like! I tried moving the grearbox and thats fine!

What could be the problem? Sorry for the rubbish info but thats all i can suggest really..

What engine mounts have you got fitted? Standard mounts (esp. the lower one) will allow a little engine movement as you come on and off the throttle.

I was running an uprated lower engine mount on my car with standard mounts on the gearbox and upper enginer mount. Recently I had an occasionaly noise coming from the fropnt of the car, at first i couldn't see anything wrong, but on further inspection the upper mount had failed.

Now replaced with Baker Bushes upgraded mounts and all good.

Check that none of the mounts have failed, that the cast ally piece the lower bush is pressed into hasn't come loose from the block and that the lower fork hasn't come lose from the car.
