I'm Back... Well Kinda.

Sam

I'm back into car ownership after over 4 years!

I am a permanent resident of Australia now so I thought I'd splash out on some transport. I bought an 02' fully optioned S3 (the 225 model). Had it a week and a coilpack died (classic on these cars I've found out) but luckily Audi have a free replacement program (well, technically it's a recall). Who knows maybe I'll find a 205 next, if I can find a cheap one here, they seem to go for a fair whack.

It's quite a contrast to my old 205 (fully heated electric leather etc). Goes well but not quite the same thrill level as the old 205.

PS. The forum looks awesome btw. Nice design.

What Audi are the wheels from as they look bigger than standard (in a good way)

I remember seeing it at a South meet a few years back, - ah the good old days - Was really nicely prepped, didn't you had that crazy low ratio box that maxed out at truck speeds on the motorway!

Dino: Not sure what wheels they are, they're 18s but no idea what they came off? A4 maybe?

Simes: Cheers. Yeh I do miss it. It had the Quaife short ratio MA gear kit. Good fun!

Sods law, one of the coilpacks not replaced died today. So I ordered a full set of the better hitachi ones. Coil on plugs? Useless. Either that or the immense heat in the bay on these things...

The rims are off a B6 S4 and look very tidy on 8L S3's (they're also quite sort after by S3 owners so good find!). The coil packs are a main failure point on the 1.8T's, either the Hitachi bolt downs or the new revision 'D' units should sort your problem assuming the wires connected to the coil pack plugs aren't cracked due to excessive heating and cooling. www.audi-sport.net is a good source of info if you're not already on there....

BTW - a great choice of cars to own (not that i'm biased ;) ), your old pug sounds awesome!

Thanks Dave. I did wonder what wheels they were!

Fitted 4 new bolt down Hitachi's today and new BKR6EIX and it idles and runs much better.

I am on audi-sport already and it's pretty awesome. In fact I have an "issues" thread on there as I'm not sure if I have a boost leak or not. Here's a vid of the spool at part throttle:

Could just be a bad diverter valve or could be nothing at all but it just sounds a bit odd.

I've seen your thread and posted up, I'm Funky_Junky :)

BTW what was the spec of the engine in your old 205?

Cool thanks.

The old 205 had a TU5 1.6 8v engine with:

QEP Head

Catcam ~280 Cam

Jenvey throttle bodies on Sandy Brown/Colin Satchell inlet

Brand new GTI6 green injectors

Magnex 106 exhaust manifold modified to fit over the 205 subframe, supersprint midsection with silencer, 106 pugsport rear silencer

Omex 500 ecu mapped by Sandy Brown

Quaife "short" ratio box - about 110@7500.

It went very well indeed
