Filter King Without Facet With 40Mm Solex

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Is it possible to use a Filter King only with my standard fuel pump when I use 40mm solex carbs? I do not know if it would reduce the fuel pressure enough. It is just my everyday car 1.9 with no cat, if it makes any difference.

IF I will have to use a Facet pump, do I have place it very close to the tank?

Hope there are some answers out there.. :)

There are two acknowledged methods for doing this, but to answer the initial question, no it won't be sufficient on it's own.

The quick and "considered by some" nasty way is to run the turbo regulator which has a return to tank outlet followed by the second filter king reg to drop the pressure to the carbs. I have personally ran it this way and not experienced any issues, others will say different so the choice is up to you.

The second is to fit a replacement low pressure fuel pump, Facets are designed to be as close to the fuel tank as possible as they are a "push" type pump. The alternative would be a Holley, which are a "pull" type pump and could go in the engine bay for a neater install.

Cheers

Chris.

Thank you for the answer - it helped alot. Does it take difficult modifications to replace the old pump with a Facet?

I think it would be difficult to use a facet and make a pick up from the tank. How have you made yours?
