Fan Harness Connector Identification

Can anyone help me to identify if this connector on the cooling fan harness plugs into anything, I can't work out what it could be for, the wiring seems very thin for saying all I could see it doing is shorting out the thermo switch in the radiator?

Its a test plug, serves no real useful purpose and dangles about looking messy, I usually cut it off.
