Gti6 Oilpressure

Recommended Posts

I have looked through lots of old post on this subject and cannot seem to find what i need.

My problem is my 205 gti is fitted with a gti6 engine so very little room in the engine bay.I have no oil pressure in the car dial? and the problem is the cable is just dangling around the engine bay not connected.I know its supposed to be attached to the sensor by the oil filter but how on earth do you get access to it :(Is there an easy way without taking the car to pieces

unless you have an early GTI6 engine the Gti6 engine only comes with a low oil pressure warning switch so connecting that up you still wont get the oil pressure guage working but the light will come on if the pressure gets too low.

If you want the guage working you either need to use a 8v pressure gauge and a T piece adapter or get an earlier type pressure sender and fit that as well(goes behind starter motor) you will need to add an extra wire into the gti6 loom though as i mentioned it didnt have this sensor as standard(unless you engine & loom is the earlier type)

Thats probably why its not connected then its a job i cannot do so will need to take it somewhere to get a gauge added its never been fitted since i purchaced the car and the seller advised me it has never worked.I have no reason to doubt him as the car was rebuilt only a few thousand miles ago.It would be nice to have an oil pressure gauge for peace of mind though

tbh its not a big job, just buy a sensor, screw it in and run an extra wire and mate it up to the appropriate one form the 205 loom.

but i guess if you're not mechnically inclined and dont fancy taking bits off the car to be able to do it then it's proabably best get someone esle to do it.

When it comes to taking bits off etc etc i would rather someone do it right first time lol

i am ok when it comes to cleaning and greasing stuff and general maint but that is it :)

Quite common, I see this allot with Tilted engine's and other nasties with the old Multli plugs just hanging around in the engine bay, It's easy to mod the loom correctly if fitting the engine.

The grey sensor is the GTI6/VTS oil red light, the mushroom one is the original 205 gti pressure sensor attached to the adaptor for the GTI6 engine block.

I think you have to join photobucked to view it  ?

No James, what i posted is for my GTI6/VTS engine conversion which i'm sorting out after my 205 recon and i have a proper loom made up for it. The mushroom is the original 205 pressure sensor which will mean your oil pressure it will read on your dials if your looms has the wire for it to work. The adaptor can be bought from ebay, i think mishor is your best one to get, thats where i got mine from.

By the way, best to use conversations (private messages) to talk than leaving comments on members profiles ok mate ?

Good luck sorting out the power steering problem :)
