Will It Hell Start

Recommended Posts

Ive had my 205 CTI about 8 years now, never use it,only comes out for mot so as you can imagine its in mint condition, Its a 94 L reg. I usually start it every 6 weeks or so just to keep it running, but its just started to develop a fault, it will start first time when cold, I let it run for 10 mins then try to start again and it just wont fire, starter is turning the engine fine, and fuel is getting to the rail. Ive now replaced ht leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, fuel relay, coil, and it still wont fire. Im running out of patience can anyone advise or has any ideas what it could be.

Ecu temp sensor more than likely do a search on it mate there loads of stuff on it quiet common tbh.

ignition amp's cause hot starting issues, where the car will turn over but not fire. Bosch ones are the only ones to go for, see if someone local to you can pop over with a known good one to swap out.

also.. if it's been sitting, try cleaning up the earths, gearbox, passenger side inner wing, and .. the other one that i can't remember the location of, make sure once refitted they get a coating of grease over them to protect from the elements.

Corrosion may cause high resistance on those and stop it starting when hot.

and... just get some wd40 on a cloth and wipe over the injection loom, earth cables, battery cables, if it's got dust and crap on it, it could increase resistance when hot, check for oil on them especially.

Speaking of which.

Double check that there is no oil ingress out of the distributor O-ring on the end of the camshaft into the distributor itself.. this may happen over time, mark the dizzy position carefully and remove it's bolts. The o ring is very cheap to replace. This has happened to me previously.
