Bm Baker Shortened Rad

Recommended Posts

James504

Howdy, I need to replace the rad in my 205. I like the look of the Bm Baker unit, from all the photos I have seen looks rather well made. The reduced height fits in nicely for my plans of fitting bodies. Anyone got experience/advice? Cheers.

They're perfect for the job and will last better than a normal rad, ideal for carbs/bodies as you say.

Stuff from stew will be spot on

or as an alternative you could consider one of the stainless radiator lowering bars from Tom Fenton which allows you to retain the standard radiator and drops the it lower out the way again giving extra space for air direct to the TB's/Carbs

Have a search in the group buys section ;)

I persoanlly went for one of Tom / Phils lower bars.

I made a little head shield so when at a standstiill less heat rises into the bodies and it seems ot work for me!

Or you could even make your own lowering bracket at a low cost :)

Stews radiators are made by Radtec Racing Radiators and initially designed by me for my car. Cheaper buying through Stew than direct through Radtec and you get all the warranty that radtec offer.

I already have rad brackets, due to the car having a/c. But ultimately I want to fit bodies, and I dislike the design of the front fans/shield. Does the rad require a 8inch or 7inch cooling fan? Cool didn't know about that 10% discount, do I just note that I am a member in the site checkout?

I think I used a single 11" Pacet fan on mine, does a great job!

I went down the route of lowering the radiator as you also get the benefit of lowering CG, by cutting out the lower cross-member and fabricating a bolt-in cradle that lowers the radiator and brings it slightly forward; it also has a nice little mounting bracket for my oil cooler. I ditched the plastic fan shroud and fitted the Pacet fan on the rad core itself.

There's a really good topic on lowering radiators if you have a little search, it has pics of lots of different solutions.
