Couple Of Xu10J4Rs Questions

Recommended Posts

cheesegrater

Hello just a few hopefully easy questions.

Where's a reputable, reasonably priced place to get new bearings from mains/big ends?

I also need to get some rings as I made a boo boo trying to pull the pistons out of the bottom :(

Will I need new rod bolts, if so, how do I remove the old ones?

Does anyone know the standard block height? I've had my unknown height head skimmed (1 thou) and I'd like to get the block decked but I'm unsure due to the known valve/piston clearances. Any advice?

Thanks,

Tom.

I wouldn't deck the block of this engine if you are using standard pistons as valve clearance is at a premium, rare that they need it anyway.

Cheers guys.

Ok I'll check the block for flatness and live with it. Any idea about the rod bolts?

It originally had a metal tensioner so I assume it had the 136t belt. I'm going for that anyways.

Yep sounds like a 136t setup :), how's the rebuild going?

As for rod bolts I've removed them by tapping them out, but there probably is a correct method of doing it
