Cylinder Head Rebuild

Recommended Posts

Matt101

After what seems like months of waiting, I can finally ask questions now the site has opened! wohooow:)

I bought a sorrento green back in October having been inspired by some of the restoration projects on here. Im making slow but good progress with the help of some of the info in the archives here and have now managed to rebuild the bottom end.

I started on the head yesterday and having checked the prices for new everything, Im wondering how many bits I can get away with using again!!!!. I know that I am going to have to do the valve guides as I found a sticky one, and I will be getting the faces skimmed. Any recommendations for this work in the Berkshire area??

The valves look OK, as does the cam but wondering if I should change the springs, retainers, buckets as a matter of course?

Any advice most welcome!

Cheers,

Matt.

Miles

Hi

Without seeing the head and what parts are worn it's hard to say,

But Followers do wear and should be replaced if needed, Springs not so bad only if changing for a performace cam I would do these as to date I;ve not known of any to snap.

Watch prices for head work as some can be expensive, Shimming varies allot

If you can send it to me I can sort them for a competive price from my Head place
