Oil Rings Or Stem Seals

Sorry im on my phone, so unable to search, but ive a problem but i dont know which of the two it is

 

pretty much when im driving the car emits blue smoke, and it is using quite a bit of oil. the car doesnt produce any smoke when cold, just when its warmed up. im just wondering what is causing the problem, and which i need to fix?

If the smoke is mostly on overrun (changing gear etc) and hot idle, then it's probably stem seals

 

If the smoke is mostly under load, and reduces/disappears on overrun and idle, then it's potentially rings.

 

If they haven't been done already, the stem seals on most 205 GTi 8v engines are knackered these days in my experience.

Seems to occur when idling, as if i give it a rev out of gear it produces blue smoke. But also when driving it produces blue smoke

 

So is it the oil rings and stem seals that have gone?
