Main Bearing Caps Mi16

There is a MI16 underblock for sale but it's missing it's main bearing caps. Is this block useless or can I fit the bearing caps from an Xu9 8V block?

Without the caps it is useless. The caps are matched to each individual block, you can not just fit caps from a different block. Possibly the only useful thing is the liners if it is cheap enough and they are not badly worn?

It hasn't got liners in it. I have an alloy 8V turbo engine and am loooking for the MI16 block to have oil spray bars and the later tensioner pulley type...

I wouldn't be too worried about the tensioner type, I prefer the earlier sliding arrangement to be honest, simply as there are 3 fixings holding it in place as opposed to just one.

 

Re: oil sprays, I modified my 8v alloy block for undercrown oil jets, if you read my project build thread all the pics are in there.
