Which Plugs Are Best Suited For A 1.9 Turbo Engine

Recommended Posts

I have just been getting the car sorted for the mot tommorrow morning, cv boots, indicator bulds, etc. went to start the car after work was complete but it wouldnt fire, after driving fine on friday afternoon, then coughed into life on two cylinders, ive narrowed it down to the spark plugs after trying a good plug on each lead,

Which plugs are best suited to a 1.9 xu with turbo conversion at the minute its got ngk r bcpr6es are these ok for the job or should i be trying something different?

any help would be brilliant

cheers carl

Sounds unusual for 2 plugs to suddenly stop firing, are you sure it isn't the coilpack dead on one side?

Anyway I use Cosworth Iridium plugs in my turbo, something like BCR7EIX, but a decent motor factor should be able to find them from Sierra Cosworth. 6's certainly are a bit hot for a turbo engine IMO.

Ye i thought that myself because it was fine in friday, any way i got a new set of plugs this morning and it started up first tiime, not a clue how two plugs died overnight?

But like you say the 6's are too hot a plug.

When it gets back from the mot i'll get the same plugs you have because there similar engines, so aim for sierra cosworth plugs and it should be fine.
