A Few Mi16 Questions

I have a mi16 in my 205 and I was wondering if there is anything to do to get a bit more power. Im not looking at anything major just carbs/cams ect. Anyone recomend anything?

 

Also i'm currently running a 1.9 gearbox. Would I be better off with the 1.6 box?

A search will reveal plenty on both counts.

 

Something like a Catcam 526 inlet or a Petert regrind cam are both cheap ways of getting a modest power increase. Throttle bodies or carbs are another, somewhat more expensive way.

 

My own personal opinion is that a 1.9 box is too long for an Mi16 and makes it feel flat and dull. A 1.6 box is far better suited, although many people prefer an Mi16 box which is somewhere between the two (1,2,3 are shortish and 4,5 are longer).

I cant recommend an mi16 gearbox highly enough! I made the same mistake by fitting a 1.9 box and when I changed to mi box it really came to life. You can get an mi16 4.4 cwp to go into your 1.9 box an that would make some tasty ratios but you may find it less hassle just to swap it. This question seems to be popping up alot recently so you might find some more info on here.
