Struggling To Remove The Engine

Recommended Posts

24seven

Previously when taking the engine out of my 205, when it came to taking the driveshafts out of the gearbox, the n/s one is easy enough and the o/s one always came out fairly easily once the hook bolts were undone. On the VTS though I've got the hook bolts out, but the damm thing just won't budge! Literally, no movement at all despite my best efforts with a lump hammer. Is there something different on a VTS that makes it harder to move?

nope, just need to hit it harder :)

if it still wont budge then you could split the shaft, pop the clip and pull the inner CV apart, taking care not to let the needles go everywhere.

once its out you can have a proper swing at it.

Was afraid you'd say that. I know I'm not the biggest guy around but I'm far from scrawny and I really couldn't have hit it any harder! I may just split the shaft, I'm not fussed about the needles as I've no use for them. Thanks WP. :)

Could also remove the engine mount from the block - then worry about getting it out afterwards.

I tried removing the mount block, but because the shaft was so firmly located in the box it wouldn't budge once all the bolts were out. Eventually I managed to tilt the engine far enough to get it out with the shaft still attached, got the space to get a proper swing at it and it came out. Cheers though folks. B)
