Changing Diff Without Dropping Engine Out

Recommended Posts

shalmaneser

I need to do this following my revelations regarding crown wheels etc.

I can't be arsed moving the engine again, so I'm about to drop the lower subframe which should give me plenty of space, theoretically.

But can it be done? I'll leave the steering connected just rotate it out of the way....

yeah i changed mine by just dropping the subframe and loosening the lower mount so i could pull the engine forwards for that extra inch or so

argh still tons of f***ing effort id rather not have to make!!!!!!

at least i dont need to rent a crane.

I would definitely rather not be doing this.

I was bloody close to getting the f***ing thing sparked up. I'll have to hope its as fast as i remember with the 16 valver.

EDIT:

incidentally, everyone should watch this:

Bam.

Further edit:

Excuse my friend, he's dead tired.

Brilliant.

Final edit:

I'm supposed to be at work at 10.00.

It's currently 5:39.

Not good.

I did mine with the engine in the car and the subframe on. Just took the bolt out of the bottom mount and tipped the engine, I may of dropped the exhort off as well.

Did mine with it all in place just bottom engine mount and pull the engine forward, it just fits between the subframe.

For how long it takes anx making tidy job of re-sealing it i find it best to drop subframe only a few bolts!
