Gti6 Calipers

Sorry i was not sure if i should start a new thread or add it to my other one.

I picked up my used set of calipers from the breakers this afternoon. The overall condition looks ok and the sliders move freely but how do i check the condition of the pistons. Should they be refurbed and what retains the pads as i can see no holes for retainers. Also they look a bit grubby and even on my rally car i want them to look half descent, can anyone recommend a good paint.

I used hammerite on mine and just greased the sliders still have not got round to fitting them yet.

I soaked mine in DEOX-C solution which removed all the rust and crap, I then painted them in black engine enamel.

Great but what holds the pads in, are they self retaining or is there a bit missing?
