M6 Road Markings

I was out on the M6 last night, roughly somewhere between junction 15-18 and I passed over some lines like the ones that are used by gatsos. I didn't think they had those kind of cameras on the motorway so I'm wondering, are they used for anything else?

Fooling motorists into thinking there's a speed camera there probably.. Unless they're planning on installing some?

Once I spotted them I had a quick look around and I didn't notice anything suspicious. Although I was overtaking a lorry at the time so there may have been something by the hard shoulder that I didn't notice.

Iirc they were put there when they had speed cameras there during road works or something

I don't know the specific area you are on about, but I know there are quite a few sections of markings along the M6 (usually under bridges IIRC). They've been around there for years and I don't think they are used for anything these days.

Nah there was nothing around, that's why I thought it was so odd to see lines but no cameras or anything else suspicious.

The old 'camera on the back of a gantry' trick....there's enough of the round the M25 and i dare say many other road networks!!!!
