Vtr Transplant Playing Up...

Recommended Posts

Alex205vtr

Howdy all,

My 1.1GR -> 1.6Vtr conversion is almost complete, but the engine is playing up a little!

After bolting the s1 Rallye manifold to head, doing the wiring and the ICV, its behaving a little odd...

It starts and idles fine without the ICV plug connected, as soon as I connect it the revs shoot up to about 3k...

possible problems;

1, ECU has been without power for about 4 months, is it just sorting itself out?

2, is the ICV for the bin? It was working fine on the Vtr inlet manifold

Any other possibilities?

Any help/advice welcome as always!

Alex

possibly an air leak?? how does it run with the ICV disconnected and the engine up to temp? Also, when its up to temp and you plug the ICV in, what happens?

EDIT

Also, How was it to wired up the ECU, Iv been thinking about using a saxo manifold on my engine as apposed to the normal Solex carb...

I've taken the entire loom, both engine and main, from the Vtr and transferred them to the 205. This cuts out a problem with the wiring.

It seems to start and run fine without the ICV plugged in, but as soon as I plug it in it starts to idle a 3k!

Might just run it with out for the time being until I can get my hands on another ICV for comparison!

Right I've found the problem!

Was the idle control valve (ICV) stuck open from lack of use!

Carb cleaner and its all sorted!
