Mi16 Rebuild Time - Supplier Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

IanH

As the title says, Im rebuilding my Mi16 at present, after having some compression related problems sorted at the local engine builders (decking and honing). Its an XU9J4 (early type)

Does anyone know some good quality rebuild kit suppliers out there that dont charge the earth? Im looking for crank journal shells, crank oil seals, big end shells, cam oil seals, valve stem oil seals, head gasket (stock)and bolts etc. The usual really. The engine's for trackday use, no racing.

Im also on the lookout for some replacement standard sized valves as mine have a suspect seal around the seat, so it looks like they are ever so slightly bent. Anyone know a good supplier?

Also while Ive got your attention, Im looking to up the gearing for the oil pump. Ive been told its a common mod so anyone know a supplier of the appropriate sized gear cog?

Thanks for any info.

I used Glyco bearings in mine, Elwis head gasket, don't remember what I used for seals.

For the oil pump you want a 26 tooth sprocket from an XU10, Peugeot part number 0513.54 and a 52 link chain Peugeot part number 1033.10. I tried ordering a Peugeot chain but never arrived, then tried a Febi equivalent, two of them, but both were 56 links and then I got Ruville which is 52 links.

any decent motor factors should be able to get you those parts

Just make sure you get decent brands

Head bolts - BGA

Headgasket Set - Payen

Bearings - Federal Mogul/Glyco

Might be worth asking the place doing your engine work whether they can supply the parts, you might find they get stuff cheaper and as they're doing other work might not put such a big markup on as a motorfactors would
