Indeed, this was one of those occassions where I really felt that the forum badly needs a "puke" smiley. In this case, a really big and really OTT puke smiley.

I know my 9-3 doesn't look badly damaged, but the rim had a chunk missing, the wing had popped out at the back, the rear lower control arm had snapped in half, the front lower control arm was bent and the ARB link had torn out of the arm. In light of all the talk about bulkhead weaknesses, I didn't fancy it's chances after having that much force passed through the steering rack! That's the main reason I didn't buy back the salvage and repair it.

I can understand why Saabs aren't to many people's taste. It's not like I had any active interest in them prior to owning mine - it was a fairly impulsive purchase! The mainstream models look fairly bland, but I like the look of the top end Aero models (same with the 9-5 Aero, which I really like). Although it all went tits up with the later "Dame Edna" 9-5s. Ugly things they are.

I personally love the shape of the Saab 900, and the one in the picture (not in the original post) to me looks absolutely stunning. I also like the look of the convertible too. I have only ever owned a F88 9000i auto 16V, fantastic car but juicey. They are the type of car that probably would not always be on yor first choice list, but once had one for a period of time wonder why not.
