Quick Question

Hi

I've taken my throttle body off to give it a good clean to try and smooth out the idle a little bit.

Now I'm putting it back on, I have a question about the 2 hoses that connect to it underneath.

One goes to the expansion tank, the other smells like a fuel line.

Like a numpty, I didn't take note of which one goes onto which lug on the throttle body! The 2 lugs are next to each other, both the same diameter.

Don't fancy guessing and getting it wrong!

Thanks!

Don't reconnect them, we don't have a cold enough climate to warrant having a heated throttle body!

Just connect the hose from the header tank straight to the outlet on the thermostat housing. ;)

Thanks Baz. I see what you're saying.

I guess I just want it back to how it was this morning, for peace of mind, then will look at another time.

If someone is near a GTI engine bay, I just need to know whether the hose from the header tank goes on the left lug or the right lug, and same for the other pipe that I'm guessing is fuel, given the smell.

If you are talking about a standard 8 valve xu the pipes will be coolant as BAZ said one from header other from stat housing,Defo not fuel.

One from header on mine goes to left lug although it makes no difference what way round they go as it just circulates coolant through body to warm it. As BAZ said connect pipe direct from stat housing to header tank no need for throttle body heating.

Awesome, thanks for that.

Yeah it's a standard 8v XU. Weird, CIA I was convinced I could smell fuel coming out of one of them.

Right, I can carry on now, thanks!

Will try and remember to take note of what I'm taking taking off from where next time, school boy error!
