207 Gti?

Recommended Posts

Will probably get flamed for this but do they still make the 207 Gti? I have been on Peugeot's website and can only see a 207 sport.

Isn't it now called the 207 THP or something?

It was always called the 207 GTi THP, although it does seem to have quietly slipped off the peugeot website, as the "sport" comes with a 120bhp 1.6 petrol engine. SHame it went with a bit of a whimper, will be interesting if we see any more GTi's for a while..

Edit: apparently the GTi badge was 'axed' in 2009, although its coming back with the 208, next year, or the year after..

That 208 looks pretty sweet, the Renault looks like a lemon though.

My mate commented on this the other day (newly converted 205 owner!) He was wondering when Peugeot were going to follow suite and make a retro revival of a old car i.e. the 205, such as the 500, gordini etc.

I would love to see a light no mod cons, rev to nuts of it modern Peugeot. All modern cars are so oversized and lardy.

Modern cars disgust me, they want to save the earth, They produce spectacularly efficient engines then expect them to haul a 2 tone, i pod dock with heated seats, leccy windows and adjustable rear carpets....

Small and light, Efficiant and fun? simples

they do a 308 GTI

200 bhp with a decent chassis though a typical modern pug, slightly heavy and no 205, as one would expect from any car manufacturer today.

very wide band of torque, with overboost, and epic brakes.

Just found an article saying Peugeot are going to launch a 308 GTI

"Peugeot finally seems ready to complete the range of 308 to a variant with more powerful and attractive name GTI. To date more dynamic versions move through the block 1.6 THP 156 hp, combined with a GT finish is more refined than sports."

According to my brother who works at peugeot they're trying to get back into the hot hatch market as renault have taken over that sector atleast at thier price range!

When are they going to realise that slapping a turbo on a 1.6 and calling it a GTi just isn't enough? The 205 was famed for being a big powerful engine in a small car, now the cars ave gotten bigger and the engines have gotten smaller. Renault are the only ones still making a GTi type hot hatch in the proper way as are ford with the RS (though I still think it should be awd and not a hot hatch in that sense). In a "107 GTi" sure the turbo 1.6 would be great, but they're never going to do that...

They probably will, but it'll be a diesel and a saloon!
