Ap Racing 270 Mm Brake Upgrade

Recommended Posts

danny56712

Hi guys iv just been offered a set of 4pot ap racing calipers and discs. Have any of you previously fitted this setup and my main concerns are use on a road car daily driver.

Are there squeaks and noise issues?

Also are pads available anywhere at competitive prices for these calipers?

There will be plenty of aftermarket pads available. I sell a fair few but you will need to know what the caliper number is or have some pads to get a shape match.

Squeaks and noise will be mostly due to the pad choice though some disc harmonics can simply be frustrating.

Strangely, I don't get any vibration / squeaking with my AP setup and DS2500.

Mintex are decent cheap pads and should be fine for the road.

make sure they are AP racing, not AP lockheed, quite a difference in weight!

There will be a calliper number on the casting, you can use that to search the Ferodo parts database. ;)

I did use AP twin pots with AP 280mm rotors.

Mmm.. 1.1kg per caliper with pads. ^_^

I've got a set of AP Motorsport 4pots (280 iirc) on one of my cars and they are absolutely incredible! No squeaks and pads are readily available, I highly recommend them.

They're Lotus Elise / Exige / VX220 front calipers, can't remember what the part number was though.

The rotors I used weren't cheap btw, you can get a better deal using Elise discs then get bells and brackets made to suit.

Sorry they are 44.5mm (1.75").

The 25.9mm I said before is the thickness of disc they are designed to run with!
