Steel Water Pipe

Recommended Posts

Jake_GTI

While replacing my engine I am also replacing anything else that needs doing, one of the things that needs doing most is the steel water pipe, after the lower rad pipe!

It's completely rooted, as are the screws that mount it, they are well in there and corroded so far that no screwdriver can get on them!

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you get them out?

Tomorrow is hopefully the big day of getting everything out and replaced for the first key turn on thurs (hopefully)

Cheers

Already got one, just can't get the old one off! Gunna try an impact driver tomorrow and if that doesn't work then drill them out!

There was a thread about this like a week ago, but the title was very obscure so you're forgiven. :)

Impact driver wins every time, don't forget to soak the bastards in penetrating fluid (or WD-40) first.
