Gauges

Couple of queries regarding the gauges on my Phase 1 Gti.

Oil Pressure gauge now sits at a constant 6.5 bar with ignition on (or engine running) have checked the wiring and it hits max when shorted to ground and when you switch the ignition off the gauge returns to the bottom rest position. Could this be a sensor, any ideas?

Fuel level gauge, permanently sits at the bottom rest position, I have checked the supply and ground to the fuel level sender and these are good but I'm not sure what I should expect on the third pin. I imagine it should be a voltage of some sort.

I haven't got round to checking the cluster yet but this is my next point of call. How reliable are the sender units?

One last query would be for the part numbers and approximate prices of these parts. (I had a quick look on the parts prices pinned thread and the oil pressure sender price looks like £55 ohmy.gif, I didn't know if this has changed at all?)

Cheers

Ben

large

As to the oil pressure sender, with the ignition on remove the spade connector from the back of the sender (the larger of the 2 above the oil filter).

If the gauge drops down the sender is faulty, if not its the wiring or the gauge itself.

Yeah definately does that, which means a new sensor :)

Cheers for the reply.
