Gear Rod Linkages

I want to replace the standard rods on my rally car to get a more positive gear change. So i looked on E Bay and found Pugracing & Gear rod shop and they show a set for £500 . Surely that price can not be right can it? :)

maybe a typo, possibly £50?

I bought some rose joints and threaded bar, cost about £35 all in, feels great now :)

EDIT: check out the "7 sold" all £50 quid

Just PM Miles!

I would imagine the price was adjusted as they are out of stock but wanted to retain the advert, more fool you if you actually thought that was the price and paid it :)

Not certain, but I think Colin Satchel may be working on a 205 "satchshift" he has recently finished a 106 batch :)

Cant wait to see these. are they the type that run 'inside' and through the bulkhead? bet they will be pricy but will sell like hot cakes!

I too have got a set from constella and found they are good,

If yours are worn then you may notice a difference fitting new ones but I only really felt gearchange tighten up considerably by fitting a cheap shortened quadrant and replaced the broken plastic bush with bronze bushes.

I'm chomping at the bit for one of these for the 205, not sure on what his timescale for completion is though.

There's a video at the bottom of this thread for the 106 ones and they do look mean

They are the uprated ones btw, not usual pug type pop on.

Is this a lot better than standard and have you uprated the rods. Where can i find a supplier and is it expensive.

Thanks

I just made a set using some tubing and threaded bits to make my own. Bought m6 and m8 rose joints from Mcgill motorsport. Cost me not more than £20 for the set.

Miles

Should be back in stock later this coming week, Have all the others thou and again have used various methods and metirals but now I always use steel bar, 10mm dia on the Longest one and all good so far, Now come with 2 years warranty

Using the Quadrant area for the Q/S I think's a cheap fix, I've taken loads off when fitting my rods and 95% of customers have reported a much better feal and shift, A good quality std gearchange is fine I think anyway.

But the bext place is the Gearstick (Main point) for the Q/S mod, but I've had or know quite a few from anyone who makes them Snap in various place's, Some good steel is needed here not some Alloy then you could be onto a nice little number.

I have had the quickshift quadrant on for 4 years no problems at all, for road use and occasional track its fine if i was into competitive racing I would probably consider splashing out on a more expensive QS, But for £20 I noticed the difference immediately. Its basically cut shortened and welded back iirc.

Miles makes mine  They are spot on. I sell craploads for other cars and not one issue. I have some if you need them urgently. KAM Racing...
