Gti-6 Conversion, How Much?

Recommended Posts

Read the smaller print, it doesn't include alot...

includes loom, manifold and engine fitting.

i take it if your supplying the engine you should have the ecu unlocked and you would use the vts box.

What more do you want, I'm not making a loss on installing things and when people pay allot more for installs which are rubbish it's very good value in my eyes, I know I would be biased but as everyone knows, Overheads etc all add up and it has to come from the customer at the end of the day

I know a company in Northants charged over £200.00 for a cambelt change on a 8v as I broke the car and couldn;t believe the amount charged

Engine tilting has always been open to debate, More strain on D/S etc, I know a few I've de-tilted have had loads of D/S issues plus the engine's all sit at the same angle no matter what car they are fitted to

Sorry, i take that back. I didn't bother reading all the auction. The last time i read one of those adverts was for a 8v turbo. £500 to drop the engine on a 205s mounts, no loom etc mods which you can all make your own minds up on.

So was this Northants company a Peugeot specialist without naming names? Not that i buy from any of them mind.

You can pay a lot more for a conversion, I'll not mention the company names, but it's the 2 big companys that deal with pug conversions that I'm talking about, there's probably more as well! I've never seen their work up close, but from what I've heard and the photos I've seen, they're nothing special!

Well after using the Xsara Vts for a few days I now cant understand why anyone would want to take the engine out and put it into a 205??? I my opinion the Xsara Vts is far more comfortable and so much more refined, handles like its on rails and bieing a 2.0 16v is very nippy! I know the Xsara is not the best looking car but I would much rather the Xsara than a 205 now.

Ive had a 205 with a 2.0 16v in it (Gailfrey's) old one and I wasnt that impressed, no quicker than the Xsara, just more rattles and didn't handle as well either!

Whilst I'm sure it is more comfortable and refined that's not the reason most people on here have a 205. My 205 isn't my only car and is just a toy. How refined it is bothers me less than just how f*cking cool a 205 GTI is! :(

As above, if its nippy in the Xsara then in the 205 its only going to be better.

Ive had 13 205 Gti's now and I do love them but have to disagree with the above, 205 Gti's should be left as 1.6's or 1.9's the 2.0 16v in a 205 is no better than a good 1.9

maybe you just cant drive 205's? and i dont belive it is no quicker than a xsara. my 1360 tu felt quicker than a xsara 0-50

you are entitled to you own opinion of course, just keep it to yourself :( and dont talk complete bollox. as above, we dont own 205's because they are a modern refined easy to drive car, (thats boring!)in the same way people dont buy old mini's because they have all the mod cons e.t.c. most of us on here drive them because they look amazing in standard form, handle like nothing else, go quite well as standard and are a nice retro car that usualy turns heads. and is not too favoured by the boy racer community anymore with 23" back box's on there corsa b's 12v.

congrats on the pregnant bit by the way.

clearly has, as he was enquiring how much it would cost him to 16v a 205! but a good 1.9 8v is better. l

Dont get me wrong I do still LOVE the 205 Gti, but I would rather a nice 1.9 gti than spend a fortune getting a 2.0 16v fitted when I think a 1.9 Gti is more fun to drive than a 205 with a 2.0 16v fitted

Xsara handles well, i cant believe someone said that tbh, its a Xsara ffs. Round the corners is rubbish compared to a 205 with the same engine without the suspension changed to cope with the extra weight.

Comfy i agree but thats it for the Xsara tbh.

hardley a fortune if it is what you want? heres a bit of advice for you... if you prefer the 8v engine, keep it. if you dont like a 16v in a 205 dont fit it. was that hard?

i have no idea why you started this thread as you had no intention of actualy getting the vts engine fitted in your mint 1.6 205, or the 'other car with no engine'

i dont think you have anything to say now do you? maybe start nitting your hair into a rope ladder so you can try and climb out of your hole.

was it the vts before you took the engine out? :( mine had no rear dampers when i drove it home and it still handled better than a 205. honestly. i have had 13 205 gti's, i should know.

This is just turning into a "205 better than Xsara" thread.

Just let it go, so long as he is happy with the choice who cares? :(
