Head Bolts

Hey,

 

Couldnt find exactly what I was looking for when searching.. Is it necessary to replace the head bolts on a 1.9 gti?

 

I remember reading about lenght tolerences somewhere but cant find it, also is there anywhere on the net that has good quality head bolts at decent money? Peugeot dealers over here seem to be pricey, 18euro + vat per bolt

Yes, always use a new set

Its' also good to try to get a proper set of stretch bolts rather than the solid FIA ones if you can imo.

 

Last set I used were from Motaquip & made it a whole load easier to up.

 

Under £20 for a set if yu have a motaquip dealer near you but a decent motor factors ought to be able to get you a set in the same design.

Thats great, Ill try motaquip so..

 

Probably be easier if I order online, prices over here always seem to be alot higher...

Thought there would be a lenght tolerence, but Ill take your advice and get new..

No, these are stretch bolts, use once & replace which considering the price isn't so bad.

 

Motaparts should be able to suipply the bolts.

 

If not I'd be willing to get you a set from Motaquip & send them over.

Payen also do the right bolts, I tend to use them but as Graham's said the cheaper ones don;t quite stretch as well

link doesn't work (for me) but you want part number VHB5, £11.64 + vat & delivery.

 

That's the part number of the bolt set I used on my recent engine build.
