Rev Counter With A Gti6 Engine Issues

Recommended Posts

Righto, today was spent making the tacho adapter loom as shown here (wired to 4 coils not just 2).

The rev counter works perfectly up to 2000rpm but pushed any further it just drops to zero.

I did have a Capri that did this years ago but that was at about 5K rpm.

Its a Rallye style rev counter not a GTI .

Any ideas anyone?

Just spotted the spelling mistake in the title, sorry

Well after much blowing of diodes, popping banging out of the exhaust and generally thinking i have broke something electrical, i decided to try the obvious that isn't supposed to work, wiring the Rallye tacho direct to the 426 tacho output on the vts/gti6 loom.

For anybody that is still running a rallye type dash, it work perfectly.

That is all.
