Manual And Auto Ecu's The Same?

Recommended Posts

Daviewonder

Hello

I have a chance to get a automatic ecu and transponder key for my 406 V6 engine as mine is locked. Mine is a manual though, is there any difference?

Cheers B)

It will run your engine fine, although I can unlock your v6 ecu for £50 inc. return postage.

Ok thanks Rob. The unlocking thing is good to know, just seen your thread on it too. I will probably be in touch next month B)

they are a different part number, but I don't know what specifically differs in the ecu itself.

I've had an auto ecu on my v6, it's just like the coupe has a different part number to the saloon/estate version, I have no idea what the difference is, they both seemed to behave the same.

For a locked ecu do you just need the matching key or is there another piece that's needed too?

I think you need the immobiliser box as well, I'm not sure where it is in a 406, on a 306 it's behind the dash, below the heater controls, I assume it would be in a similar place on the 406

in a 406 its clipped alongside several other control boxes to the left of the blower motor, under the glovebox
