Winter Claims Another One

Ok, i know its not a 205 but equally as painfull none the less.

Laying in bed this morning, phone call from my girlfriend Louise, saying she's had an accident in the 306. Naturally i claw up and out the door and drive to where she crashed. Thankfully she was ok and only has a few bruises and bumps, (how she only has that i don't know)

The ambulance and police were already there when i got there. The car was facing the opposite direction to travel in a ditch pretty much on its side. She says she took a right hand bend and felt the car twitch then spin 360 and thinks she cartwheeled when the front hit the ditch side and spun another 180 to face the opposite way clipping a telegraph pole on the way. Needless to say my attention was more on Louise when i arrived and making sure she was ok, but as she went off to hospital in the ambulance as a precaution i had a better look at the car.

Every window bar the nearside rear quarter is smashed, the bonnet was ripped off, the battery is nowhere to be seen, the doors and boot won't open, two tyres off the rims, the rear offside wheel is hugging the remnants of the wheel arch and not a panel untouched.

pics here

Whilst Louise is more important than any car, i'm still pretty gutted.

Jeez, she did a good job on that. Main thing is that she's OK of course.

Still, on the bright side, if the engine still runs and didn't get damaged than you've an ideal donor for one of your 205's :)

Wooooooo! :o

She is very, very lucky. Glad she is OK.

Its been said before about these things, a car is replaceable, people are not.

Look at it this way, it was only a 306 :)

I know, it's only a car, Just happy she's o.k.

On the plus side, could have another '6 powered 205 soon. :)

Struth!! Glad she's okay!!

Spookily incredibly similar to what I did to my S2000 - Even ripped the bonnet off too.

Hope she doesn't feel too sore. I spent ages rolling my head and keeping my neck moving which I think helped me.

I decided to be manly and not take Ibuprofen which was an error as it keeps inflammation down in your joints - that certainly hurt a bit after I went out walking.

She's a tough cookie!

She's quite sore around her neck but is trying to keep moving and is on painkillers for a few days. I Think it will all come out a bit more after a night sleeping/not moving in bed though.

Glad she is alright. I had a mate who didn't make it after a crash in a GTI6 :) Makes you think how flimsy a 205 is by comparison.

Good news she came out ok.

The 6 looks like it handled the crash quite well considering.

Do you know what caused it to slip out of control, was it diesel, suspension etc ?

Thats the only real downside to owning a 205 gti, the shell is very weak.

Yeah, despite the damage, it seems to have absorbed the worst of it.

I think it was a combination of icy road and possibly mud although i'm not saying it was entirely that. She's not the girl racer type and is usually sensible when it comes to road conditions/driving accordingly. It's put her off driving the 205 now though.

Wow B)

Glad your Mrs is ok, sounds like it could have been much worse, and looking at the car you'd think it was.

Wow that looks a big one!

I think I speak for most of us when I say your misses is very lucky.

I would however like to confirm this, so if you could post some pics that would be good (lingerie is optional but preferred). B)
