205 Gti Wiring Loom

Recommended Posts

Carbs4me

Hello every1,

Recently took my 205 apart to do a (what was ment to be quick) engine change. When i was taking the loom off the engine i noticed the plug to pick up my reverse gear was missing (for rear reverse lights) the plug is attached to the gearbox still, but there is no wire or any broken wires in my loom?

Can any1 help me work out how i can idenifiy the wire as i stil its broke off inside the plastic sleave that surronds some of the loom and how does it go into the plug to fit the gear box?

Any help would be great as the engine needs to go in tonite

Cheers,

Carbs

In that case there should be a pair of wires in the loom, these can be traced back to the brown multiplug under the dash.

The two brown multi-plugs tom is talking about are underneath the steering column area. They can be traced back from where the engine wiring harness passes throught the bulkhead on the same side. As the reverse light wires run along with the engine loom they should be fairly easy to trace. They are at one end of the longer of the two multi-plugs under the column, on my two looms they are purple and brown. (Purple goes to the light, brown is +ve supply)

Hope that helps

Steve

Yeah thats fine, if you have two reverse lights each 21W then the current drawn would be (21*2)/12v = 3.5A as a rough estimate, so 8amp is more than adequate.
