Final Question About My Carb Conversion

Recommended Posts

Bigtimmy

Well I've pretty much finished the carb conversion, one of the last jobs was to wire up the Facet fuel pump, (cylindrical one) and test it and check the fuel lines are all good and tight.

I turned the ignition on without cranking the engine, and the pump primed itself quite quickly and no fuel leaked at all. :P

I've read that these pumps are quite loud....and this one is, although it quietened down a bit once primed.

My question is should the pump cut out once it reaches a set pressure or does it just keep thumping fuel towards the filterking and carbs, making a loud noise all the time?

Cheers, I'll try not to ask any more stupid questions for a while after this one! :(

iirc they just keep pumping, the filter king / regulator reduces the pressure.

Mine uses a recirculating FPR, so excess fuel is dribbled back towards the tank.

As said, they run continusly, so dont worry. If you have it rubber mounted, this will damp the noise down a bit.

I presume you have a regulator between the pump and carbs? Shoulke be set aprox 3-4PSI if my memory serves me.

Cheers guys for the replies, all sorted now.

Off to A B Garage in Chester in the morning to get it all set up correctly.

I rubber mounted the pump, then to the filter king and then through a glass filter so I can see whats going into the carbs and then into the carbs.
