Gauge Cluster Mod For Gti-6 Rev Counter?

Right, so reading/searching the old threads, i've decided to do this mod to my gauge cluster to get a rev-counter on my GTI-6.

 

 

Its a BX16V cluster im fitting, will i still need to do the mod?
