Driving Lights Staying On

Recommended Posts

Obey_R

Wired in some new driving lights on the existing wiring today. Power is coming to the lights fine, yellow connectors are all okay.

Fuse #4 is not blown...and this is the problem:

Key in ignition but not turned: Pull stalk forward, d/lights come on - let go of stalk and they go off

1st Click in ignition: Pull foward, on - Let go, off. Turn dip beam on, pull stalk forward and they come on and stay on, pull stalk again and they go off as they should - relay clicks each time.

But when I turn it to the 2nd click, before turning over, if I either pull the stalk forward with side lights on, or turn dip beam on then click the main beam on, they won't go off again.

I don't know if I'm making any sense, probably not, but only on the second 'click' of the key, the driving lights wont go off - however with no key in the ignition, or on the 1st click of the key, they work perfectly.

Another thing to add, once I get to the second click of the key, the relay in the engine bay by the bulkhead clicks when I turn the driving lights on - it clicks again when I try to turn them off but they stay on.

Any ideas? :P

Anthony

Do the high beams also stay on, or just the driving lights?

Indeed, are the headlights actually plugged in? I remember someone on here had problems with the driving lights staying on when the headlights had been removed for a trackday, but it all worked fine when the headlights were connected back up again.
