205 With Wind

Recommended Posts

does anybody else find that 205's are terrible to drive in crosswinds?

i drove from leicester to derby yesterday evening on the M1 and it was nearly impossible to keep hold of the steering wheel, it was so bad i got off the motorway and took a less windy route

now is this a problem with all cars, all 205s or just my car?

i initially thought i'd got a flat tyre or something when i got on the motorway :S

Or your tracking is out / knackered suspension so it rapidly responds to side gusts!

It isn't just 205's. I used to have a Citroen AX that was much worse in windy conditions, an unexpected breeze once took me almost fully into the hardshoulder, now that was scary :(

I'm guessing it's just lighter cars that have this problem... and canvas sided lorries. :)

My old Micra K10 was terrible in cross winds, lowered it and it was quite a bit better :)

Any large object driven against the force of the wind is pretty bad to drive.

Saying that my Vespa in the outside line of the motorway suffers pretty badly!

I had a toyota long wheel base van once with the motor behind the seats and that was a real bastard to drive over 40 in the high winds! :P
