Fuel Pump Relay

Recommended Posts

locosaki

My car appears to have no fuel pump relay as it runs constantly with the ignition on.

I have found where the bridge has been made but no sign of relay at the drivers side.

On the multi plug that comes from the ignition barrel there's 3 thin wires taped to the larger red/orange & yellow igniton wires, Is this likely to be for the fuel pump relay ?

could well be but you will need to trace where they go to confirm.

Are you sure this isn't just a bodged immobiliser / alarm fitting because the fuel pump relay usually gets bypassed either on the fuse box or at the relay plug imo.

Well now that you say that, I've just removed a toad alarm from the car and thats when this came to light.

I think your 100% spot on with that, The link is at the fuse box and the fuel pump fuse is removed, I can see where the link connects to the existing white wire at the back of the fuse board.

I really just need to work out what wires I'm looking for now and see if I can get it to work as Peugeot intended !

When I saw it done this way, the heated rear window relay had been removed & the supply wire ran from on if the pins in the fuseboard to the otput side of the fuse so the pump ran constantly when the ignition was on in any position.

Was an easy fix & got the heated rear screen working again in minutes.

Just needed two relays, one for the tachymetric & one for the window. Luckily I had both spare.

Graham,

Thats appears to be how mine is wired also, Live feed tooken from one of the unused relay pins, Could well be the heated rear screen I'll need to check tomorrow.

Where is the tachymetric relay usually sited ?

the tachy relay is normally up above drivers right knee, look up through hole in lower panel and you should see the ECU tach relay is fitted to one of the ecu nuts.

probably easier to remove the lower dash panel so you can get a good look at all the wiring.
