Where To Buy A Paddle Clutch?

Recommended Posts

Cameron

I've tried searching on google for this on quite a few occasions, but there seems to be very few places that advertise selling them. Does anyone know a good place to get Helix / Sachs or equivalent paddle clutch kits from?

I'm also on the lookout for a lightened flywheel, QEP would have been my first point of enquiry but since they're no longer trading, does anyone know a good place to look?

Try SPEC clutch in the USA, very helpful, range of different clutches that they will recommend according to your use and torque, and cheaper than Helix etc.

I have one for my turbo car, not fitted yet.

If it's for your 205 Cameron, then it might be worth giving James_R a shout if you've still got his number/email - he had a 215mm Mi16 one that was pretty much as-new, seeing as it had only driven over to the 'Ring and managed half a lap before the engine quit :) It was for sale at a quite reasonable price when he broke the car and sold everything off, but he might well have already long since sold it.

Yes! I was looking at these a few months ago and completely forgot what their name was. Thanks! :D

I'll give him a try, do you know if he still has his old number?

Or have a look at TTV, they do loads of options for the XU engine, I can get hold of Helix stuff within a few days

Miles is it possible (or a good idea) to run a paddle friction plate with the standard pressure plate? I'd rather not have to fork out for an uprated cover if I don't have to, I just need a friction plate that can withstand track use a bit better.

I'll send TTV an email about their flywheels too.

Is it one of those Competition Clutch ones? If so, are they any good?

Notice they sell TTV flywheels too, handy!

I currently have a helix paddle clutch (which is for sale), as I understand it after some investigations, it depends on the torque figures. It is the cover that gives the increased torque capability, as this gives the clamping force, so yes you can use a standard cover, but you will only get a small increase in torque due to the better friction material of the paddle plate.

Helix paddle clutch with heavy duty cover is rated to 220 lb/ft, standard helix clutch and cover is rated to 180lb/ft.

I am looking to get a Hispec clutch from the states as they are the only place I have found that has a standard fit clutch kit with the torque rating I need.

How much is a Mi/GTI6 alloy flywheel? Does it have a steel or alloy ring gear?

Well I guess that's a good thing, my engine only puts out 150lbft so maybe I could use a standard cover.
