Facet Pump Positioning Help

Recommended Posts

Bigtimmy

Hi guys,

Can you take a look at the photo and tell me if the pump is in the correct location and orientation, the inlet is at the bottom and the outlet at the top, which makes sense to me as there is a filter at the inlet end.

Also in a super schoolboy not sure moment does the filterking also in the picture need to be connected before or after the pump or is it no great shakes either way. :)

Personally I think it should go on after the pump, then it is regulating whats going to the carbs not whats going to the pump.

Thanks

Tim

There was a thread on facet mounting a while back.

I gave lots of information of how it SHOULD be mounted, albeit mounting it slightly differently will probably not be the end of the world to those that are just using it for road.

Search for the thread.

But in answer to your question re facet is - my opinion:

It's wrong.

1) It should be mounted closer to the tank (read what I wrote about how much it can pull).

2) It should be mounted on a vertical plain - ie 'up and down'.

3) It should be mounted with the filter end at the bottom (filter is inside it - undo the byonet fitting).

4) I assume you will be mounting with the rubber vibration feet. This is not just for your comfort, but also to prolong the pump life.

But like I said, it won't be the end of the world mounting it like you have. Indeed at least you have gone for the classic school boy mounting position rather than strapping it to the exhaust manifold or something. lol.

Re filter - you usually try and have a basic filter before the pump (so you don'g shag it), and a better filter post it.

The facet has a pretty good basic one. So tick.

The filter king can therefore go post pump.

Where are you putting your fuell pressure regulator?

Thanks for the info, the filterking also regulates the fuel pressure.

So this would be a better location.

I did a search....belatedly and found a topic where someone had a Skip Brown prepped car and SB had mounted the facet where the fuel filter would have been.

If it's good enough for skip it's good enough for me. :)

I'll be using rubber grommets as "feet" for it.

Timmy,

Skips did a carb conversion for me on my sprint car, the pump was mounted just like that and it run faultlesley for four years for me until i sold the car.

cheers

Cheers Mark, I reckon it should do the job, plumbed it in today with some nice little rubber feet and a good earthing point!
