Balancing Bias Brakes

Has anyone got any experience of the correct way to set these up ? Mines the pts type. I would assume for tarmac it would be approx 60 % front and 40% back, correct me if i am wrong. Also are they adjusted at standstill or on the move.

There'll be guidelines but I prefer personal preference, just play about with it a bit and find what suits you. It can be done on the fly if you can!

Yeah guidelines are just that, they aren't the be-all and end-all ideal perfect best optimum settings. Only you can decide what to set it to, and you need to find this out by driving the car in some controlled space (i.e. not on a main road) and finding the balance that works with your setup.

 

Also worth noting that your ideal wet brake balance will be different to dry, in that you will need more rear brake bias.

You won't be slowing down anywhere near as quickly as you could then. I know it may sound a bit daft at first, but when you think about it the lower grip levels mean less weight is transferred to the front wheels, which means the rear can cope with more braking before locking up.

Yes, find a long enough controlled space and start testing. I prefer to set the front lock just a little earlier than the rear while hard braking. After some hot laps, dial a bit more to the front (limit the rear a bit more) to compensate the cooked front.

Have not the time to fit a track day in, got a stage rally in 2 weeks . So i have to sort it out the hard way, possibly on the first stage. I only just had the car back after having a load of work done and if i can get the brakes near enough, i will fine tune as i go. :D

Got it, set it up near enough and can play with it later. Got to get use to the hard brake pedal now :(
