Price Approximations For Machining?

Recommended Posts

rallysteve

I am just roughly planning in my head how much money I need to set aside for my alloy block mi16 build. Engine will be for my track car, but will be standard for now.I am trying to work out what is worth it price wise for my engine. I will go in search of actual prices when i get to the build, but just looking for ballpark figures for now. As i already have the crank/flywheel/clutch cover fully balanced i wont need anything there but I am thinking about:

Head Skim (its not warped but want to up the CR a bit)

Con-Rod Balancing/matching

Piston Balancing/matching

Three angle valve seats and new guides

Liner Honing to remove slight ovality (within tolerance in the rebuild manual)

Block/Liner Decking to get the CR upto 11:1

Anyone offer any approx figures for me?

Cheers Steve

I don't know what it's like on the mainland but prices can vary quite a bit from area to area so it's better to get the yellow pages out and find someone well established close to you.

Also, if you are decking the block for raised CR then you won't need to go near the head. Alot of people would advise against this anyway. 11:1 is going to be quite high anyway.

Cheers for the advice, I will have a phone around. Want to make sure i find somewhere decent who dont ruin the liners.

I believe clearance should be measured without the seals in place.
