Moving to sheffield from glasgow and need to get my 205 shifted, Would need a trailer over a weekend and it would be returned the same weekend as my dad would be towing the car down and coming back with the trailer the same weekend.

Long shot i know but worth a try! beer tokens would be supplied.

Cheers,

Colin.

Haha predictable eh? I have an A frame but it wouldn't be strictly legal/sensible to tow the 205 on all 4 wheels 260 miles as its been off road now for 4 maybe 5 years. if i cant get a hold of one iwill end up a framing it but its not ideal

I've got a pretty dodgy one that I used to get mine up from Glasgow to ABerdeen.

I say dodgy as its a single axle and the tyres are regular car tyres and legally they can only take 800kg between them. Also if your towball is a bit high the rear of the trailer runs very low and on rough ground catches!

It has working lights and some form of brakes. Welcome to come and borrow it. I have a mate who's going to buy it but not for a couple of weeks. Can even lend you some straps to tie it down. Oh and it has a winch which pulled my 205 on no problem.

Or there's a guy in ROsyth that hires a good one for £50 a day. Its a bit more up to the job for a long trip.

Legend! thankyou very much. I dunno if your trailer would suit the van as the tow ball is quite high on the transit but il have a look at the link you posted there as it sounds promising. wont be needing it for afew weeks tho, moving all the house stuff down in about 6hrs....best get to bed!

Cheers,

Colin.

Not sure if there are specified towing weight restrictions with these or not.

Thats what I was planning to do if I was keeping it. I got pulled by traffics and they thought it had too much weight at the back. I explained there was actually more weight over the towball but they weren't convinced. Mine would need proper trailer tyres to make it legal to take the weight of a 205.

A dolly type trailer so only the rear wheels where on the ground? I'v used one a couple of times and they are good. Surely there is somewhere that will hire them out cheaper than a trailer as well?
