Is My Idle Mixture Screw Missing?

Recommended Posts

Mart Pug

One of the minor MOT fails yesterday was 6.27% CO level (HC levels passed at 261).

So i was going to lean it off a bit, and I can't seem to see my idle mixture screw?!

Is it missing?

The weird thing is, after a search on here, I realised that winding it out leans it off, so it's a bit strange (to me anyway) that I'm getting rich readings with no screw...

Any one got a spare screw gathering dust somewhere? Lol :P

Thanks

Mart

are you sure it is missing and does not have the blank plug or build up of crap in hole?

if it is missing i have a spare AFM in garage you can have for cost of postage,it is a 1.6 one.

Not sure mate - I assumed it would be in that hole in the last pic?

Or it located under the black plastic cover? Don't want to pull it off as it seems pretty permanent.

Thanks for the generous offer of your spare AFM... Mines a 1.9 though... Are they the same? If so I'll take you up on it.

the mixture screw is in the hole and is a 5mm allen key but although rare these days they had a plastic bung in the hole so just have a check and see if it has got one fitted,it does seem strange that it would be missing.

the 1.6 and 1.9 AFM are different no idea what is different about them as resistance readings are the same etc but got different bosch number.

Yep got it. After digging the debris out the hole, the 5mm Allen screw was there.

Out of interest, I tried unscrewing it all the way out and it's not possible.. S onimpossible to lose it guess.

I'll be asking my friendly MOT tester if I can play with the mixture to get it down to the legal limit...
