Car Tax Query...

have searched all over but can't seem to find a simple answer.

 

I've a 306 that has been sorn'd, i want to get it taxed starting Februray 1st. Can i tax it online just now and it will be post dated for 1st? From what i've been reading you can apply for tax to begin the following month by no more than 2 days in advance but i think that's for if the current tax is due to run out end of current month if you know what i mean. Since mine is sorn'd, does that mean i can't do that and am at risk of it starting form beginning of January? In an ideal world i'd go to post office and get it taxed there but i need it for work tomorrow.

 

Even if i can tax it to begin 1st, does that mean it's not actually taxed unitl then so it won't be able to drive it on 31st?

I seem to remember something along the lines of...

If the vehicle is SORN you can't tax it online until the first day of the month you wish the tax to start from, however, you are legally allowed to drive the vehicle for up to 5 days from the date you purchase the tax while waiting for it to arrive in the post.

ah, ok so have to wait until 1st to tax it online, cheers!

 

Hopefully if i go to post office tomorrow they'll tax it from 1st.
